Join our free screening of the 1966 sci-fi classic Fantastic Voyage. A miniaturized crew attempt to heal their injured colleague by traveling through his body. But in 2018, do advances in science and technology mean that science fiction is becoming closer to reality?

The screening of the film will be followed by an expert Q&A session and an interactive demonstration of virtual reality equipment allowing you travel inside a cell.

Our expert panel will include University of New South Wales Associate Professor John McGhee. As Director of the 3D Visualisation Aesthetics Lab, John’s work explores the visualisation of complex scientific and biomedical data using 3D animation and virtual reality technology.

This special event is presented by the ARC Centre of Excellence in Convergent Bio-Nano Science and Technology together with the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, and is being held as part of National Science Week 2018.

This film is rated G, however there are some action scenes that may not be suitable for very young children.

This is a free event, however, registration is essential. Popcorn and water will be provided to all ticket holders.
